Dr Bwakarshak, Habakkuk Emmanuel PhD, FCIB, ANIMN holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) Security & Strategic Studies from Nasarawa State University Keffi, a Master in Business Administration & Management (MBA) from Federal University Technology Akure (FUTA) Ondo State, a Bachelor of Science Degree( B.Sc.) in Banking & Finance from Olabisi Onabanjo University (formerly Ogun State University). He is an Associate of the chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, is a Fellow of the prestigious banking Professional body; the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria; and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Nigeria.
Dr. Habakkuk, a consummate banker with hands-on experience in all facet of banking spanning over 30 years, having worked in various capacities in Savannah Bank (Operations, Inspection, Audit & Investigations, Credit Analysis and Risk Management, Training and Foreign Operations]; he had brief stints at Global Bank Plc. and Societe Generale Bank where he was Head, Regional Controller (North). At First Interstate Bank Plc, he re-developed and ensured full conversion of the operations of the bank from Merchant to Commercial Banking. Dr. Habakkuk was one of the pioneer Staff at the formation of Unity Bank where he served as Secretary to the Executive Operations Work Stream Sub-Committee and thereafter in various capacities including anchoring the Branches Operations co-ordination & Services, a faculty member anchoring customer services delivery and operations policies of the Training Department. He pioneered and started the department that ensured quality assurance of services and improved service delivery of the bank. He was an integral part of the success story of Unity Bank’s merging of nine (9) banks’ operations with diverse culture and complexities into one. He headed several projects and committees that help merge, shape and project the brand of the bank. He resigned in July, 2014 as the Group Head, Foreign & Treasury Operations.
He served on the board of Garki Micro Finance Bank limited formerly National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) Community Bank as a Technical Director, responsible for mentoring and ensuring its conversion to Micro Finance bank and is adjudged one of the best now holding state license as a representative of Unity Bank. He ensured that all the staff sat for and all have qualified and are certified as licence micro finance bankers by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
The chartered Institute of Bankers appointed him as one of their ‘Think Thank’ Committee members of the financial industry on Constitutional Review (March 2014- August 2014) and also recognised him and appointed him as a mentor and faculty member for its training programmes. He is an examiner on treasury operations and practice of banking. He holds the prestigious Practice License of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria to Consult & Train in all matters relating to banking & finance including serving as Receiver Manager & Debt Management consultant and Risk Asset Management adviser amongst others. He has mentored, guided, consulted, and prepared business plans that brought up many successful Microfinance Banks and Non-Bank Microfinance Bank that were illiquid.
Dr. Habakkuk has been a Principal Consultant, Lighthouse Financial Services Limited a company that directly oversees and controls the activities of Lighthouse Asset Management limited, a member of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Lighthouse issuing house, and Lighthouse Finance Company and is the Managing Director and fund manager of Digital Pay Limited one of the upcoming fintech financial services provider aside from being a promoter/director to many other companies.
